Sourabh Sharma, BS
Sourabh is a Clinical Research Coordinator in the Department of Neurological Surgery at UCSF and San Francisco General Hospital. Sourabh is one of the primary coordinators for the NIH-funded Transforming Research and Clinical Knowledge in Traumatic Brain Injury (TRACK-TBI) U01 Cooperative Grant, a multicenter project across 11 U.S. Level I trauma centers seeking to enroll patients across the spectrum of concussion to coma. Sourabh is responsible for the day-to-day operations of patient enrollment, biomarker processing, MRI scanning, and neurocognitive and neuropsychiatric outcome measures across the domains of executive function, mental health, postconcussive disorder and PTSD. Sourabh is a certified MRI technologist for the TRACK-TBI neuroimaging sequences including structural MRI, fMRI, and DTI.
Prior to joining the clinical research team at BASIC, Sourabh investigated animal models of TBI, radiation and combined injury as a research associate utilizing spectroscopy, confocal microscopy, blotting, PCR, and behavioral tests. Sourabh also has experience in risk assessment of infectious disease from his work at the Children's Hospital and Research Center in Oakland, CA.
Sourabh's interests include traumatic brain injury and neurological disorders, functional recovery methods, statistical approaches to translational research, and devising novel follow-up strategies to the brain-injured population. Sourabh is an avid tennis player and programmer.
Sourabh is a second-year medical student at the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University.
