Kerui Gong, MD, PhD

Dr. Gong received his PhD in Neurobiology from Capital Medical University. Kerui is an Assistant Professional Researcher at UCSF as a disease model expert for genetic rare/common diseases. His main research interests focus on the glutamatergic transmission in sensory ganglia (dorsal root ganglia or trigeminal ganglia) and its contribution to sensory information processing in both physiology and pathology conditions (like neuropathic pain and spinal cord injury).  He combines multiple methods like electrophysiology, optogenetics, animal behaviors and more to explore the releasing mechanism of glutamate as well as the changes in glutamate receptors from sensory ganglia neurons.
